Manpower is currently recruiting for an experienced Maintenance Assistant to join a well-established and prestigious organisation in Oxford on a temporary basis for approximately 2-3 months. This is an urgent requirement and offers the opportunity to work within a professional facilities and estates environment.

About the Role
This is a hands-on maintenance position supporting the day-to-day upkeep, repair and compliance of a large and busy estate. The successful candidate will carry out a mix of planned preventative maintenance (PPM), reactive repairs and general maintenance duties.
This role would suit someone with previous building maintenance experience who is practical, reliable, customer-focused and comfortable working in a varied environment where no two days are the same.
Please note: This is not purely a facilities inspection role. Alongside planned maintenance activities, the successful candidate must be willing to undertake less desirable tasks when required, including:
- Unblocking toilets
- Clearing and maintaining drains
- General reactive maintenance issues
- Manual handling and movement of furniture/equipment
- Routine water hygiene flushing checks (carried out every Wednesday alongside the wider maintenance team)
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out planned, preventative and reactive maintenance works across the estate
- Complete routine compliance inspections including water hygiene, emergency lighting and fire safety checks
- Perform minor repairs and basic adaptation works to buildings, fixtures and equipment
- Respond promptly to maintenance requests and emergency issues
- Assist with furniture moves, equipment replacement and room set-ups as required
- Work closely with housekeeping and operational teams to maintain high standards throughout the estate
- Complete all maintenance records accurately using electronic systems and tablets
- Ensure workshops, stores and work areas remain safe, clean and organised
- Follow all health and safety procedures and safe working practices at all times
On-Call Opportunities
There is an out-of-hours call-out rota within the maintenance team which attracts additional payment.
Candidates will not be expected to participate immediately and will only join the rota once they have demonstrated sufficient competency and confidence within the role.

Essential
- Previous experience in building services or general maintenance
- Proven practical experience carrying out repairs and maintenance tasks
- Good understanding of health and safety requirements
- Ability to work independently and manage workloads effectively
- Comfortable dealing with urgent and reactive maintenance issues
- Strong customer service and communication skills
- Basic IT skills, including the use of tablets and maintenance systems
- Full UK driving licence with no endorsements
- Flexible approach and willingness to support a wider team
