Start Date: Immediate / ASAP
Pay: -110 per day
Contract Type: Temporary with potential for long-term opportunities
Hours: School hours (ad hoc, part-time and full-time opportunities available)
About the Role
Prospero Teaching are currently recruiting a Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to work within a supportive primary school in Bristol. This role is ideal for someone passionate about helping children overcome barriers to learning and supporting their academic, emotional, and social development.
As an LSA, you will work closely with the class teacher and wider support team to provide targeted assistance to pupils who may require additional support, ensuring they can fully access the curriculum in a positive and inclusive environment.
Responsibilities
- Providing one-to-one and small group support to pupils who require additional learning support
- Assisting pupils with SEND, SEMH, or additional learning needs as directed by the class teacher
- Supporting classroom learning activities and helping pupils stay engaged and focused
- Adapting tasks and resources to meet individual learning needs
- Encouraging positive behaviour, confidence, and independence
- Supporting pupils with emotional regulation and social development
- Assisting with personal care where required, in line with school policies
- Supporting pupils during transitions, break times, and school routines
- Working collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, and support staff
- Ensuring safeguarding, welfare, and child protection responsibilities are upheld at all times
Requirements
- Experience working with children or young people (primary school or SEN experience desirable)
- A calm, patient, and empathetic approach
- Ability to build positive relationships with pupils and staff
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- An enhanced DBS on the update service (child workforce), or willingness to apply
- Right to work in the UK
