We are recruiting an LRC Manager on behalf of a well-regarded secondary school in Redbridge and we are looking for someone who genuinely loves books, learning and the positive impact a great library can have on a school community.

At Empowering Learning we place support staff into schools where they can make a real difference. This is one of those roles - a fantastic opportunity for an organised, enthusiastic and student-focused individual to take ownership of a busy and well-resourced Learning Resource Centre.

The Role

This is a hands-on, varied role at the heart of the school. You will be responsible for the day-to-day management of the LRC ensuring it is a welcoming, well-organised and inspiring space where students want to spend time and where reading and research are celebrated.

• Manage the day-to-day running of the Learning Resource Centre including stock management, cataloguing and displays
• Promote a love of reading and independent research across the school community
• Support students with literacy, research skills and independent learning during LRC sessions
• Assist teachers with curriculum-linked research projects and resource sourcing
• Manage the library management system - issuing, returning and cataloguing books and resources
• Organise author visits, reading events and book-related enrichment activities
• Maintain an up-to-date, diverse and inclusive book stock that reflects the school community
• Support students during break, lunch and free periods who use the LRC as a study space
• Work closely with the English department and SENCO to support reading intervention programmes

What We Are Looking For

• Previous experience managing a school or public library - highly desirable
• A genuine passion for reading, literacy and promoting a love of learning
• Strong organisational skills and excellent attention to detail
• Confident using library management systems or willing to learn quickly
• Warm, approachable and able to build positive relationships with students of all ages
• Good IT skills including Microsoft Office
• Understanding of the role of an LRC in supporting student achievement and wellbeing
• Enhanced DBS or willingness to apply
