Job Responsibilities: Logistics Team Leader (G7)

• Lead and manage the day-to-day operations of the logistics team, ensuring efficient delivery of services.

• Supervise, support, and motivate team members to achieve operational targets and maintain high performance standards.

• Coordinate logistics activities, including planning, scheduling, resource allocation, and workflow management.

• Monitor service delivery and ensure that all logistics operations comply with organisational policies, procedures, and health and safety requirements.

• Allocate workloads effectively and provide guidance to team members to ensure tasks are completed accurately and on time.

• Identify operational issues and implement practical solutions to improve efficiency and service quality.

• Maintain accurate records, reports, and documentation relating to logistics activities and team performance.

• Work collaboratively with internal departments, external partners, and stakeholders to ensure smooth service delivery.

• Support continuous improvement initiatives by reviewing processes and recommending enhancements.

• Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, contractual requirements, and council standards.

• Assist with recruitment, training, performance management, and development of logistics staff where required.

• Manage competing priorities while maintaining a high standard of customer service.

Person Specification
Essential Skills and Experience

• Proven experience in a logistics, transport, warehouse, or operational management environment.

• Experience of supervising or leading a team and managing staff performance.

• Strong organisational and planning skills with the ability to prioritise workloads effectively.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work with colleagues and stakeholders at all levels.

• Ability to analyse operational issues and implement effective solutions.

• Good understanding of health and safety requirements within a logistics environment.

• Ability to maintain accurate records and produce clear reports.

• Experience working within a customer-focused service environment.

• Ability to work independently and make informed decisions while also contributing as part of a wider team.

Desirable Skills and Qualifications

• Experience working within a local authority or public sector environment.

• Knowledge of logistics systems, scheduling processes, and resource management.

• Experience of continuous improvement methods and service development.

• Relevant qualification or training in logistics, management, transport, or a related field.
