Locum Head of Legal South Yorkshire Hybrid Working 3-Month Initial Contract Immediate Start A Local Authority in South Yorkshire is seeking an experienced Locum Head of Legal to provide interim leadership and support during a period of absence. This is an excellent opportunity for a senior local government lawyer to join a well-established legal services team in a strategic leadership role. The Role As Locum Head of Legal, you will lead and oversee the Legal Services function, providing strategic legal advice and operational leadership across a broad range of local authority matters. You will have responsibility for teams covering: Property Procurement and Contracts Litigation Adult Social Care Children''s Social Care You will also provide oversight of: Information Governance Data Protection Subject Access Requests (SARs) Corporate Complaints The Practice Manager will report directly into this position. Requirements To be considered, you will have: Previous local government experience. Significant experience within a local authority legal services environment. Senior management experience, including leading and developing legal teams. A broad understanding of local government law. Knowledge of Adult Social Care and Children''s Social Care legal matters. Contract Details Initial 3-month contract. ASAP start. 3-4 days per week preferred. Full-time hours considered for the right candidate. Hybrid working. Approximately 1-2 days per week in the office.
