Go back Cardiff and Vale University Health BoardLocum Consultant Paediatric NephrologistThe closing date is 30 September 2025An exciting opportunity has arisen for the post of Locum Consultant in Paediatric Nephrology within the Tertiary Paediatric Nephrology Service for South, West and Mid Wales based at the Children’s Hospital for Wales in Cardiff.Cardiff and Vale University Health Board is recognised as a teaching centre of excellence in a wide range of clinical services. Although this post is full-time, consideration will be given to applicants who require flexible working arrangements.Applicants should either be on the Specialist Register or be a Specialist Registrar within six months of their expected date of receipt of a CCT / CESR(CP) at the time of interview. You will be able to take advantage of the excellent Consultant contract for Wales. The Salary range for this post is £121,264 per annum.Applicants must ensure they provide names and contact details of referees covering at least the last 3 years of their employment/training history in full. In addition, applicants who are currently or have most recently been employed as a substantive Consultant or as a Locum Consultant in post for more than 12 months must also provide the name of their Medical Director as an additional referee.Main duties of the job
The Paediatric Nephrology service provides a specialised medical service for children who suffer from renal disease. All aspects of tertiary paediatric nephrology except transplantation are delivered and there are good links with Bristol for renal transplantation with joint protocol development and transplant pathways. Strong professional links with the adult nephrology and transplantation service are in place and involve joint biopsy meetings, transitional care clinics, and joint care for transplantation of young people.The post holder will join a team of enthusiastic nephrologists and will have the opportunity to play a key role in further development of the service.
