Locum Consultant Obstetrician & Gynaecologist | Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust

An opportunity has arisen for a locum consultant in obstetrics and gynaecology to start from 1st January 2025. It is an interim post initially for 12 months to cover maternity leave. The successful candidate will join the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology at North Middlesex Hospital, alongside 17 other Consultants.The new appointees will join a busy and supportive department committed to high standards of patient care. Please see the Job Description and Person Specification for further details.It is expected that the appointees will participate fully in delivering the undergraduate curriculum to trainees and medical students attached to the department.North Middlesex Hospital is undergoing rapid development, including a new purpose-built Accident and Emergency Department with a Gynaecology Emergency Room. The hospital features an active Early Pregnancy Assessment Unit/Emergency Gynaecology Unit, staffed with trained nurse ultrasonographers, two ultrasound machines with pulsed colour Doppler, and daily beta-hCG assays.The hospital has been designated as a Cancer Unit within the North Central London Oncology network. Facilities for minimally invasive gynaecological surgery include video laparoscopy, hysteroscopes, and endometrial ablation equipment. The service''s success has increased demand for minimally invasive procedures, with weekly outpatient hysteroscopy clinics.There is currently a weekly gynaecological urodynamic session. Enfield and Haringey Health Authority employ a senior nurse incontinence advisor, and an active incontinence support group is in place, supported by a senior physiotherapist.Our Gynaecology Service offers advice and treatment for a wide range of conditions, including pre-menstrual problems, fertility issues, bladder dysfunction, uro-gynaecology, specialist clinics for FGM women, colposcopy, menopause, endometriosis, recurrent miscarriage, fibroids, and collaborative work with UCLH in gynaecological oncology.This post would suit consultants seeking the satisfaction of making a significant difference in a busy inner-city London university hospital.The Trust is an Equal Opportunities Employer and provides a smoke-free work environment.
