Locum Consultant in HIV Medicine and Sexual Health – 56 Dean Street

A vacancy at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.The post is for a 10 PA Consultant in Sexual Health and HIV Medicine for 12 months fixed term, covering maternity leave. The job is based at 56 Dean Street, Soho. The target start date is 19th November 2025.56 Dean Street is an award-winning HIV and sexual health service based in Soho, with a focus on HIV prevention and the sexual health needs of LGBTQI+ people. It is Europe’s busiest sexual health clinic, with approximately 110,000 patient attendances per year. It cares for the third-largest HIV cohort in the UK, with about 4,600 patients. The clinic also runs an Integrated Gender Dysphoria Service called TransPlus, which the successful candidate may wish to engage with.The HIV inpatient service merged with Imperial College Hospitals Trust in 2019, providing care on Ron Johnson Ward at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital for inner northwest London and Hertfordshire.The post-holder will, in conjunction with existing consultants, be responsible for advising, screening, diagnosing, and treating patients with STIs, including HIV. They will be committed to developing integrated HIV and sexual health services, optimizing service efficiency, implementing new technologies, and developing new initiatives.The post-holder will build on existing relationships with colleagues and allied organizations as part of a multidisciplinary team. They will participate in quality improvement, research, and service management. It is expected that they will engage in management tasks, contribute to monthly departmental meetings with the Clinical Lead, and work with other consultants to improve outpatient HIV care, including clinical trial recruitment. They will manage their own HIV cohort.The role includes providing educational supervision for multidisciplinary team members, participating in Wednesday morning educational activities, virtual clinics, and weekly HIV resistance meetings.
