Locum Consultant Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist (Inpatient CAMHS) role at NHS. Fixed term consultant position for 12 months at the Coborn Centre for Adolescent Mental Health in East London NHS Foundation Trust.Responsibilities

Provide psychiatric assessments and treatment where appropriate; undertake risk assessments; contribute a psychiatric perspective and provide clinical leadership to the multidisciplinary team.Offer consultation to other professionals and agencies and contribute to service developments.Participate in healthcare governance, quality improvement, teaching and training. Engage with special interests where appropriate.Work closely with two other consultants and the multidisciplinary team in the assessment and management of young people and families with severe and enduring mental disorder; liaise with CAMHS, Social Care, Education, Youth Offending Teams, Acute Hospital and Adult Mental Health teams.About the Service and Organisation

The Coborn Centre is a highly specialised in-patient service for adolescents with severe and complex mental disorder, based in East London. The service comprises a PICU, an Acute ward, and a Day Service with a multidisciplinary team providing holistic biopsychosocial assessment and treatment.East London NHS Foundation Trust is recognised for excellence in mental health care and quality improvement. Full GMC registrationMRCPsych parts 1 and 2 or equivalentEligible for inclusion on the specialist register or higher trainee within 6 months of CCTSection 12 approved and Approved Clinician status or willing to apply for approvalDesirable

Higher academic degreeHigher training in a specific psychotherapy (eg. family therapy, CBT, individual or group psychotherapy)Experience of managing CYP with eating disorders in acute or community settingsSkills, Abilities and Professional Practice

Extensive clinical knowledge and sound clinical judgement; robust risk management; holistic patient careAbility to balance competing demands, prioritise, and maintain high standards for patients and teamUnderstanding of transcultural and gender issues in psychiatry; evidence-based practiceLeadership and coordination skills; ability to develop and lead clinical teamsEffective communication with patients, families, colleagues and other professionalsExperience in teaching, training, and supervisionTravel and Other Requirements
