up to £460 p/d Umbrella inside IR35Role purpose / summaryWe are seeking a skilled Linux Technical Specialist to manage and maintain our Linux-based infrastructure. This role is critical to ensuring the stability, security, and performance of our systems. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to support applications and services running on Linux platforms, while driving automation and continuous improvement.Key Skills/ requirementsSystem AdministrationInstall, configure, and maintain Linux servers (Red Hat, CentOS, Ubuntu).Perform system updates, patching, and performance tuning.Monitor system health and resolve technical issues proactively.Security ManagementImplement and maintain security controls to protect system integrity.Conduct vulnerability assessments and security audits.Manage firewalls, IDS/IPS, and other security tools.Network ManagementConfigure and troubleshoot network settings on Linux systems.Ensure seamless connectivity and integration across platforms.Support DNS, DHCP, and TCP/IP configurations.Backup and RecoveryDesign and implement backup strategies for critical systems.Perform regular backups and validate recovery procedures.Automation and ScriptingDevelop scripts to automate routine tasks using Bash, Python, or Perl.Support configuration management using tools like Ansible, Puppet, or Chef.Support and CollaborationProvide technical support to internal teams and resolve Linux-related issues.Work closely with developers to optimize application performance.Documentation and ReportingMaintain comprehensive documentation of system configurations and procedures.Generate reports on system performance, incidents, and compliance.Required QualificationsProven experience as a Linux System Administrator or Technical Specialist.Strong knowledge of Unix/Linux operating systems.Experience with virtualization platforms (e.g., VMware, KVM).Familiarity with configuration management tools (Ansible, Puppet, Chef).Solid understanding of networking protocols and services.Proficiency in scripting languages (Bash, Python, Perl).Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.Ability to work independently and collaboratively.Preferred QualificationsCertifications such as RHCE, RHCSA, or LPI.Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).Knowledge of containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes).All profiles will be reviewed against the required skills and experience.
