Linux Infrastructure Consultant – Short-Term Diagnostic Engagement Location: South London, hybrid
Engagement: Short-term consultancy
Outside IR35
We’re looking for an experienced Linux Infrastructure Specialist to come in for a short diagnostic engagement and help our client get a clear picture of their current Linux estate.
The environment consists of around 15 Linux servers, and this engagement will form part of a wider modernisation programme. They are looking for someone hands-on who can get under the bonnet, understand what’s currently in place, identify any issues or risks, and help shape the next steps.
What you'll be doing

  • Reviewing and assessing the existing Linux server estate
  • Understanding the current setup, configurations and dependencies
  • Identifying potential risks, technical debt and areas for improvement
  • Highlighting opportunities for modernisation
  • Providing clear findings and practical recommendations
  • Helping us understand what the future Linux environment could look like
What we're looking for
  • Strong hands-on Linux infrastructure / administration experience
  • Experience working across Linux server estates
  • Confident troubleshooting and investigating existing environments
  • Good understanding of infrastructure modernisation
  • Able to work independently and quickly get to grips with an unfamiliar environment
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain technical findings clearly

This is a short, diagnostic-focused engagement and would suit someone who enjoys getting stuck into an environment, figuring out how things work and providing an honest assessment of what needs to change.
If you're a Linux specialist available for a short engagement and this sounds like your kind of work, we'd love to hear from you.
