Jesses HousePosition Summary:We are seeking a hands-on Leisure Manager to oversee and ensure the exceptional daily operation of all leisure facilities at Jesses Houses West Wing Fitness Suite (Gym), and Swimming Pool (indoor and outdoor)This is a proactive leadership role requiring operational excellence, a safety-first mindset, and a passion for creating an energising, family-friendly environment. The Leisure Manager will lead a multi-disciplinary team, manage day-to-day operations, uphold service and safety standards, and ensure all spaces are clean, safe, and welcoming for children, families, and adult members.Reports to
:General Manager/Deputy General ManagerDirect reports:Swim coordinatorFitness instructorSwim teachersLifeguardsFitness instructors/ PTKey Responsibilities:Leisure Facility Operations (Indoor and Outdoor)Lead the operational management of all West Wing leisure areas including studio spaces, fitness rooms, gym and swimming pool.Monitor all activity areas to ensure safe, respectful, and age-appropriate use of equipment.Ensure adequate rota coverage and adapt staffing levels in line with footfall and peak periods.Uphold brand presentation standardsensuring all spaces are tidy, stimulating, and family-friendly.Conduct and review daily, weekly, and monthly checklists for safety, cleaning, and equipment inspections.Swimming Pool ManagementOversee the safe operation of the swimming pool, including water quality, lifeguard supervision, and general hygiene.Manage pool schedules, including lessons, free swim, and maintenance closures.Ensure compliance with all relevant health and safety legislation and pool operations best practices.Conduct regular pool plant checks, coordinating with maintenance and external contractors as needed.Ensure all lifeguards are trained, compliant with qualifications, and delivering safe, engaging supervision.Fitness StudiosEnsure gym and studio equipment is functional, clean, and aligned with member expectations.Coordinate with personal trainers and instructors to maintain class schedules and support evolving member interests.Supervise cleaning teams (internal and external) to maintain exceptional hygiene standards across gym and changing areas.Assist members with equipment queries and ensure proper usage of fitness machines.Conduct Gym inductions and medical questionaries with membersHealth and Safety, Compliance, and Incident ManagementEnsure all facilities meet or exceed health and safety standards, with daily audits logged via Alert 65 or equivalent systems.Act as the leisure departments Health and Safety lead, ensuring team members are fully trained in emergency protocols.Oversee all accident and incident reporting, investigation, and follow-up in collaboration with senior management.Maintain proper documentation for compliance audits and licensing requirements.Leadership and Staff DevelopmentLead, coach, and motivate a diverse leisure team including play staff, gym assistants, lifeguards, and receptionists.Coordinate rotas, leave, and shift coverage to ensure operational consistency.Deliver onboarding and ongoing training to ensure excellence in service, safety, and brand standards.Foster a team culture that prioritises accountability, positivity, and proactive problem-solving.Customer Service and Member EngagementServe as the primary point of contact for members and guests across leisure spaces.Resolve escalated complaints calmly, professionally, and efficiently.Champion member feedback, identifying trends and working with senior leadership to drive continual improvement.Ensure all team members deliver warm, attentive service that reflects Jesses House values.Opening and Closing DutiesOversee the secure opening and closing of all leisure spaces.Ensure daily setup and closing checklists are completed, with any issues reported and logged appropriately.Maintain strong handover systems and communication across shifts.Requirements:Minimum 35 years experience in a leisure management or supervisory role, ideally within a family-focused or multi-use facility.Proven experience managing pool operations, including water testing, plant room understanding, and lifeguard team oversight.Valid Pool Plant Operator Certificate (or willingness to obtain).NPLQ (National Pool Lifeguard Qualification) or familiarity with its requirements preferred.Sound knowledge of health and safety compliance, incident management, and cleaning protocols.Strong leadership, team coordination, and interpersonal skills.Excellent customer service orientation and problem-solving ability.Flexible to work weekends, evenings, and public holidays as required.Desirable:First Aid at Work certification.Experience using Alert 65 or similar incident and maintenance reporting software.Background in working with childrens recreational activities or family leisure services.Personal training or fitness instruction qualifications a ..... full job details .....
