About the Opportunity
An established and highly regarded law firm in Leamington Spa is seeking an experienced Legal Cashier to join their accounts team.
Working closely with the Accounts Manager, you will play a key role in the daily management of the firm’s financial operations, ensuring client and business account transactions are processed accurately, efficiently, and in compliance with regulatory standards.
This part-time role offers an excellent opportunity for a skilled Legal Cashier looking to contribute to a supportive team environment with a varied workload and the chance to add real value to the wider business.
This position is fully office-based in Leamington Spa, with two full working days per week. Thursday and Friday are preferred, though flexibility is available for the right candidate.
Key Responsibilities
- Share responsibility for daily banking procedures, including receipts, payments and property completions, with agreed periods of sole accountability.
- Process payments via telegraphic transfers, Faster Payments, BACS and international transfers.
- Notify fee-earners of incoming telegraphic transfers and BACS payments promptly.
- Maintain accurate postings for client and business accounts.
- Produce covered bills reports and manage daily client-to-business transfers.
- Ensure all client account postings are completed by the final working day of each month.
- Handle and bank cheques and cash, managing deposits and payments as required.
- Support fee-earners in reconciling completion statements and ledgers against electronic records.
- Post bills, calculate interest, and cancel outdated cheques where applicable.
- Assist with purchase ledger postings, supplier payments, and employee expense claims.
- Maintain precise financial records, including scanning, filing and general administration.
- Provide cashiering cover during colleagues’ holidays and absences.
- Support the Accounts Manager and Accountant with additional finance-related duties as needed.
- Participate in departmental and firm-wide meetings, fostering effective communication and teamwork.
Person Specification
We are looking for candidates who ideally have:
- A minimum of three years’ experience as a Legal Cashier within a law firm.
- Strong general bookkeeping knowledge with practical experience.
- A thorough understanding of the Solicitors Accounts Rules.
- Awareness of anti-money laundering procedures and compliance obligations.
- Excellent numerical skills and meticulous attention to detail.
- Strong administrative, organisational and time-management abilities.
- The capability to work accurately under pressure and meet deadlines.
- A proactive, flexible approach with the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- Effective communication skills and confidence in liaising with fee-earners and colleagues.
