Our Wills, Life Planning & Probate Team is one of the largest and most respected in the region, providing expert advice on Wills, Trusts, Probate, Estate Administration, Court of Protection matters and Lasting Powers of Attorney.
We are seeking an organised, proactive and client-focused Legal Assistant to join our growing team in Leigh-on-Sea. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to develop a career within Private Client law, supporting fee earners and delivering exceptional service to clients, many of whom may be vulnerable, elderly or recently bereaved.
Key Responsibilities
Fee Earner Support
Provide high-quality secretarial and administrative support to fee earners, including:
- Diary and appointment management.
- Audio and digital dictation.
- Preparation of correspondence, legal documents and client documentation.
- File and matter administration.
- Billing and financial administration.
- Supporting the progression of Private Client matters as required.
Client Service and Matter Management
- Act as a first point of contact for clients and third parties.
- Support clients professionally and sensitively throughout their matter.
- Liaise with financial institutions, professional advisers, executors, attorneys and beneficiaries as required.
- Assist with client onboarding and compliance procedures.
- Maintain accurate records and support the efficient progression of matters.
Team Support
- Work collaboratively with colleagues across the department.
- Support business development and networking activities where appropriate.
- Assist with general office and departmental administration.
Experience and Skills
Essential
- Previous administrative experience, ideally within a professional or legal services environment.
- Strong organisational and communication skills.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office.
- Ability to prioritise workload and meet deadlines.
- Commitment to delivering exceptional client service.
Desirable
- Previous experience as a Legal Secretary or in a similar legal support role.
- Experience within Private Client, Probate or related legal work.
- Experience of case management systems and digital dictation.
- Knowledge of client onboarding, anti-money laundering procedures and regulatory compliance requirements.
