Learning Support Assistant (SEND) | Towcester & Surrounding Villages | Via Tradewind Recruitment

Are you a caring and motivated Learning Support Assistant with a passion for supporting pupils with additional needs? Tradewind Recruitment is working in partnership with a range of mainstream and specialist schools in Towcester and the surrounding villages, who are seeking dedicated SEND support staff to join their teams.

These schools support pupils with a variety of needs, including ASC (Autism Spectrum Condition), SLCN (Speech, Language and Communication Needs), SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs), and physical disabilities, across a range of abilities from mild learning difficulties through to more complex needs. This is a rewarding opportunity to support pupils in inclusive settings, helping them to access education and develop both academically and socially.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide 1:1 and small group support to pupils with SEND
• Adapt learning activities to meet individual needs and learning styles
• Support communication using methods such as PECS, Makaton, BSL, and AAC where required
• Assist with personal care and mobility where necessary
• Promote positive behaviour and support emotional regulation
• Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, and external professionals
• Support pupils both in the classroom and during wider school activities

Requirements:

• Previous experience supporting children or young people with SEND
• A strong understanding of additional needs including ASC, SEMH, and SLCN
• Knowledge of alternative communication methods is highly desirable
• A patient, adaptable, and empathetic approach
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)
