A welcoming and inclusive mainstream primary school in Crofton Park, SE4 is seeking an experienced and dedicated Learning Support Assistant to join its team on a full-time, long-term basis, starting ASAP.

The successful Learning Support Assistant will work closely with a Year 3 pupil, providing consistent 1:1 and classroom-based support to help them access learning, develop their independence and make positive progress.

The pupil has Autism and Developmental Language Delay, so the school is looking for a Learning Support Assistant with previous experience supporting children with Special Educational Needs. Experience working with Autism, communication difficulties or developmental language needs would be particularly beneficial.

• Providing 1:1 and small-group support within a Year 3 classroom

• Supporting a child with Autism and Developmental Language Delay

• Helping the pupil access the curriculum and engage positively with learning

• Supporting communication, social development and independence

• Working closely with the class teacher and SENCO to implement appropriate strategies

• Providing a calm, patient and consistent approach to behaviour and learning

• Building a positive and trusting relationship with the pupil

• Supporting the wider classroom when required

The school is looking for a Learning Support Assistant who has previous experience working with children with SEN and is confident supporting pupils with additional needs.

• Experienced working with children with Special Educational Needs

• Confident supporting children with Autism

• Patient, nurturing and resilient

• Able to communicate effectively with children and staff

• Understanding of the challenges associated with developmental language delay

• Consistent and confident in their approach

• Passionate about supporting children''s learning and development

• Available to start ASAP
