Prospero Teaching are currently recruiting for compassionate and dedicated Learning Support Assistant to join a specialist SEN school supporting children and young people aged 4-19 years in a supportive and inclusive learning environment.
This specialist setting caters for pupils with a wide range of complex additional needs, including Autism (ASC), Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD), Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD), communication needs, physical disabilities, medical needs, sensory processing difficulties, and SEMH needs.
As a successful candidate, you will play a vital role in supporting pupils both academically and personally, helping them develop confidence, independence, communication skills, and positive relationships. Every day provides the opportunity to make a meaningful difference to a young person''s life.
Role:
- Location: Winchester, Hampshire
- Position: Learning Support Assistant
- Start Date: September 2026
- Contract Type: Temporary to Permanent opportunities
- Hours: Full-Time, Monday-Friday
- Pay Rate: From -90 - -110 per day
Key Responsibilities:
- Support pupils on a 1:1 basis and within small class settings.
- Assist students in accessing learning through personalised support strategies.
- Encourage communication, confidence, independence, and social development.
- Support emotional regulation and positive behaviour.
- Assist with sensory-based activities and therapeutic interventions.
- Work closely with teachers, therapists, and support staff.
- Contribute to a safe, nurturing, and inclusive learning environment.
- Provide personal care, moving and handling, or medical support where required (full training provided).
Candidate Requirements:
- A patient, understanding, and positive approach.
- Ability to remain calm and resilient in challenging situations.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Passion for supporting children and young people with additional needs.
- Willingness to learn and develop professionally.
- Previous experience in SEN, care, youth work, support work, healthcare, or nursery settings is desirable but not essential.
To Be Considered for This Role, You Must:
- Have the Right to Work in the UK.
- Hold an Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or be willing to apply.
- Provide two professional references, preferably child-related.
