We are seeking a caring, enthusiastic and committed Learning Support Assistant to join a welcoming special needs school in Hackney, supporting primary-aged pupils with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is passionate about helping children with additional needs develop their confidence, independence and academic and social skills.
The Role
As a Learning Support Assistant, you will work closely with class teachers and the wider support team to provide tailored support to pupils with ASD. You will help create a safe, positive and engaging learning environment where every child is encouraged to reach their full potential.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Providing one-to-one and small-group support to pupils across the school day.
- Supporting pupils with their learning, communication, social development and independence.
- Helping children engage positively with classroom activities and routines.
- Following individual support plans and strategies tailored to each pupil''s needs.
- Supporting pupils who may experience sensory, communication or behavioural challenges.
- Building positive and trusting relationships with pupils.
- Working collaboratively with teachers, therapists and other members of the school team.
- Encouraging positive behaviour and helping pupils develop emotional regulation skills.
- Supporting pupils during lessons, break times, lunchtimes and other school activities.
- Maintaining a safe, inclusive and nurturing learning environment.
The Ideal Candidate

Previous experience working with children with ASD, SEND or complex learning needs would be highly desirable, although candidates with relevant transferable experience and the right attitude are encouraged to apply.
