About the Role
Connex Education is currently recruiting for enthusiastic and dedicated Learning Support Assistants to work across a specialist SEND setting supporting children and young people with a range of complex educational, medical and behavioural needs.
This is a rewarding opportunity to work in highly supportive environments where the role of the Learning Support Assistant is central to helping pupils access a personalised curriculum and achieve their individual outcomes outlined in their EHCPs.
We are looking for individuals who are nurturing, energetic, empathetic and confident in applying a variety of behaviour support strategies to help pupils engage positively in learning and daily school life.
We offer flexible supply opportunities, short-term and longer-term placements depending on your availability and preference.
Key Responsibilities
- Support pupils with complex learning, medical, and behavioural needs on a 1:1 and small group basis
- Assist teaching staff in delivering tailored and differentiated learning activities
- Help implement individual education plans and EHCP targets
- Use appropriate behaviour management strategies to support engagement and wellbeing
- Create a safe, supportive, and structured learning environment
- Encourage independence, communication, and social development
- Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and wider support staff
- Provide consistent emotional and pastoral support to pupils throughout the school day
What We’re Looking For
- Experience working with children or young people with SEND, SEMH, or complex needs is highly desirable
- A calm, patient and resilient approach
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills
- Ability to adapt and respond to challenging situations positively
- A genuine passion for supporting vulnerable learners
- Understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to apply through Connex Education
- Right to work in the UK
