We''re recruiting a Learning Disabilities Support Assistant to join a specialist SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health) school in Maidenhead. This full-time role offers the chance to work closely with pupils who have a range of learning disabilities alongside complex mental health and behavioural needs.
As a Learning Disabilities Support Assistant, you will provide personalised support to help students access education, develop social skills, and manage emotional challenges. Many of the children you will support face difficulties stemming from trauma, anxiety, or developmental delays, and your work will be vital in promoting their wellbeing and progress.
Key duties as a Learning Disabilities Support Assistant:
Deliver one-to-one and small group support tailored to individual learning and emotional needs
Support the implementation of mental health and behaviour management strategies
Build trusting relationships that encourage communication and emotional regulation
Help create a safe, structured, and nurturing learning environment
This Learning Disabilities Support Assistant role is perfect for individuals interested in careers in education, speech and language therapy, social care, or mental health.
We are looking for someone who:
Has a genuine interest in learning disabilities, mental health, and child development
Demonstrates patience, empathy, and resilience in challenging situations
Has some experience or training in education, care, or support roles (preferred but not essential)
