Lead Practitioner of Chemistry

Overview

The Lead Practitioner for Chemistry at Haberdashers'' Hatcham College plays a crucial role in shaping and maintaining the quality of Chemistry across the school. The postholder will provide expert guidance and support to teaching staff, ensuring lessons are engaging, effective, and aligned with the curriculum. The role requires close work with the wider science team, but in particular, the Head of KS3 Science, Head of Chemistry and Head of Science Faculty. In addition to delivering high-quality lessons, the Lead Practitioner will mentor and coach colleagues, develop teaching skills, refine lesson planning, and implement best practice across the department. They will ensure the Chemistry curriculum and assessments are challenging and accessible. Strong leadership, excellent communication, and the ability to motivate staff and students are essential. The Lead Practitioner will also foster collaboration within the department, supporting professional growth and knowledge sharing.Reporting
