This critical role ensures our models are robust, accurate, and compliant with regulatory standards. The ideal candidate is experienced, autonomous, and capable of providing thought leadership.This position is part of our Second Line Credit Risk Team, providing independent oversight of credit strategies and models developed by our First Line teams.Who are we?Funding Circle is dedicated to backing small businesses to succeed. We leverage over a decade of expertise, innovative data, and technology to reshape SME lending—offering quick decisions and excellent customer support.The rolePerform independent validation of all key models used by the business, assessing conceptual soundness, data integrity, and implementation.Collaborate with model developers and business units to address risks and resolve issues promptly.Oversee ongoing model performance monitoring and recalibration activities.Prepare validation reports and communicate findings effectively to stakeholders and senior management.Ensure all activities comply with internal policies and external regulations.Contribute to enhancing validation frameworks and methodologies.Identify and mitigate risks, issues, or control weaknesses proactively.What we''re looking forA Bachelor''s or Master''s degree in Finance, Economics, Statistics, Mathematics, or Computer Science; Ph.D. is a plus.7+ years in model development, validation, or related risk management roles, preferably in financial services.Strong knowledge of financial products, risk management, and statistical modeling.Proven team collaboration skills and stakeholder engagement.Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.Proficiency in SQL, Python, R.Familiarity with regulatory guidance such as IFRS9.Funding Circle values diversity and encourages applicants from all backgrounds.
