      <description>Location: Manchester | Salary: Negotiable | Type: Contract | Lead Miner - Shafts &amp; Tunnels Project      We are seeking an experienced  Lead Miner  to support a major shafts and tunnels project in Manchester. This is a hands-on leadership role overseeing underground operations on a technically demanding infrastructure scheme.      Key Responsibilities:    Lead and supervise mining crews across shaft sinking and tunnelling activities  Ensure all works are carried out in line with safety regulations and project specifications  Coordinate daily operations, including drilling, blasting, ground support, and lining works  Monitor progress against programme targets and address operational challenges  Maintain high standards of health, safety, and environmental performance  Liaise with engineers, site management, and subcontractors to ensure efficient delivery    Requirements:    Proven experience in shaft sinking and/or tunnelling operations  Previous leadership or supervisory experience in underground construction  Strong understanding of health &amp; safety regulations in mining/tunnelling environments  Ability to manage teams and maintain productivity in a fast-paced setting  Relevant certifications (e.g., SMSTS, underground safety training) preferre...</description>
