Role: Lead Mechanical Engineer - Technical Delivery



Overview

We are seeking an experienced Lead Mechanical Engineer to take ownership of technical delivery across projects. This role involves leading mechanical design, ensuring high-quality outputs, and supporting both project execution and business growth.

• Project Delivery
  • Work closely with the management team to ensure successful project delivery.
  • Deliver work in line with agreed scope, programme, fee, and quality expectations.
• Technical Leadership
  • Lead mechanical design delivery, including:
    • Technical strategy
    • Calculations
    • Specifications
    • Schedules
    • Drawings
    • Reports
  • Ensure effective coordination with wider design disciplines.
• Quality Assurance
  • Take ownership of technical deliverables.
  • Review outputs prior to issue to ensure:
    • Accuracy
    • Coordination
    • Commercial suitability
    • Alignment with company standards
• Project & Stakeholder Management
  • Act as the lead engineer on projects.
  • Participate in meetings and lead technical discussions.
  • Resolve project issues efficiently.
  • Maintain clear communication with clients, consultants, and contractors.
• Business Development
  • Support client relationship management and growth activities.
  • Provide technical input into:
    • Fee proposals
    • Scopes of service
    • Follow-on opportunities
    • Prospective project discussions
• Team Development
  • Support team growth and capability planning.
  • Identify resource requirements.
  • Contribute to recruitment decisions and future engineering capacity planning.

The successful candidate should demonstrate:

• Chartered Engineer status, or active progression towards chartership.
• Proven experience in mechanical building services design within a consultancy environment.
• Experience leading mechanical design delivery and managing technical outputs.
• Strong coordination experience with:
  • Clients
  • Consultants
  • Contractors
  • Multidisciplinary design teams
• Commercial awareness, including:
  • Scope management
  • Fees and programme control
  • Change control
  • Project risk
• Strong communication skills with the ability to:
