An exciting opportunity has arisen for the right candidate to join our small but specialist team of Cardiac Physiologists in the Heart Investigations Unit at Birmingham Children''s Hospital. The post is based at our city centre Children''s Hospital, a leading UK specialist paediatric centre, offering expert care to 90,000 children and young people from across the country every year. We are a world leader in advanced treatments, complex surgical procedures and cutting-edge research and development.The post is for 37.5 hrs/week, worked over 4 days on an 8am to 6pm pattern (Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday). The post holder is expected to participate in an out of hours on-call rota.Main duties of the job
The post holder will provide organisational leadership and clinical and professional supervision of General Cardiac Physiology Services (Except Echo) to the multi-disciplinary team. Based at Birmingham Children''s Hospital, ensure continuity of the service across clinical areas and that policies, protocols and clinical practices are maintained. Develop General Services and create strategy and vision for the future in line with other Paediatric Cardiac Investigation departments in the UK. Manage resources efficiently with delegated financial responsibilities as part of the Trust\''s standard financial instructions.The post holder will demonstrate proficiency in a wide range of cardiac physiology techniques including ECG, ambulatory ECG and BP recording and interpretation, Exercise Tolerance Testing, Cardiac Rhythm devices implantation and follow up, provision of hemodynamic monitoring during diagnostic and interventional cardiac catheterization.About us

Qualifications
BSc in Clinical Physiology (with Cardiology specialist option) from RCCP / SCST / AHCS approved educational provider; or equivalentMasters in Clinical Physiology (with Cardiology specialist option) from RCCP / SCST / AHCS approved educational provider; or equivalentSpecialist accreditation in Pacing approved by BHRS / IBHRE (adult/paediatric) or equivalentEvidence of continuing professional development in PacingRegistered Cardiac Physiologist / Clinical Scientist with RCCP / HCPC. If not held already, must be willing to work towards that within given timeframeKnowledge and Experience
Strong underpinning knowledge of cardiac anatomy and physiology including congenital cardiac defectsMinimum 5 years of experience as a Senior Highly Specialist Cardiac PhysiologistMinimum 5 years of experience as a Highly Specialist Cardiac Physiologist in PacingExperience of identifying and undertaking research or innovative development projectsExperience of identifying and undertaking clinical audit projects and using this information to drive quality improvementsKnowledge of Modernising Scientific Careers training programmes and opportunities for integrated staff development with other healthcare scientific specialismsExperience as a Manager/Head / Deputy Head of a Cardiac Physiology departmentAnalytical and Judgement Skills
