Altera Recruitment Group is partnering with an innovative clean technology business based in the Bristol area that is developing novel technology to transform the recycling and reuse of carbon fibre composites.
The business is taking its technology from pilot scale towards mass production and is now looking for an experienced Lead Engineer to play a key role in delivering the specialist equipment required to support that growth.
This is a highly autonomous, hands on engineering position suited to someone with a strong background in special purpose machinery development. The successful candidate will take equipment and process ideas from concept through to physical implementation and commissioning, working across mechanical, electrical, controls, pneumatic and hydraulic systems.
You will have the opportunity to work at the forefront of sustainable manufacturing, developing production equipment and R&D test rigs while working closely with equipment suppliers, research partners and internal engineering teams.
Key Responsibilities of the Lead Engineer
- Take engineering concepts through to physical implementation, including CAD design, technical documentation, quotation management, inspection, assembly and commissioning
- Lead the selection and integration of components and equipment, working with suppliers and internal stakeholders to define specifications
- Produce detailed equipment specifications and technical documentation
- Allocate, track and manage engineering work packages against agreed budgets and timescales
- Continuously develop equipment and engineering best practices to improve production rates, efficiency, quality, manufacturing cost and equipment uptime
Candidate Requirements
- BSc, BEng or above in a relevant engineering or scientific discipline
- Minimum 8 years' experience designing and building special purpose machinery
- Proven experience in special purpose machinery development, ideally within industrial scale process equipment
- Experience working within an R&D environment and taking process concepts through to implementation
What's on Offer
- A salary of £65,000-£75,000 (depending on experience).
