Lawyer - Employment/Tribunal

We are delighted to be representing a London-based Local Authority, who are looking to appoint an Employment Solicitor on an initial 3-month temporary contract, with the option to go permanent thereafter.This position is due to start immediately on a full-time basis, with an office presence needed twice a month and the hourly rate is negotiable based on experience.Duties will include (but are not limited to): Advising on and dealing with all legal matters relating to Employment Law to the Council Conducting straightforward and complex proceedings including evaluation of evidence, strategic case management advice, case preparation and advocacy, where appropriateAdvising clients on the risks of legal challenges and advising them how to mitigate riskRepresenting the Council in meetings with other authorities, government departments and other bodiesAttending committees, panels, working parties and other meetings with councillors and cabinet membersInstructing counsel/external solicitors as necessary, arranging case conferences and attending to counsel at hearings as requiredDrafting and assisting on complex decision reports and conducting complex legal work with minimal supervisionReviewing cabinet and other reports, drafting the recommendations and writing the legal implications, including advising on options available and managing any risk Skills, knowledge and expertise required: Qualified solicitor, barrister, or legal executive (or equivalent experience)Strong up-to-date ..... full job details .....
