The Role:
We’re recruiting for a Laboratory Aide to join a busy laboratory services team. This is a practical, hands-on support role, helping to keep research facilities running smoothly by providing clean glassware, sterile solutions, and essential consumables. It’s not a scientific position and involves no direct laboratory contact — the focus is on operational support rather than research.
You’ll work on-site using industrial lab equipment, preparing sterile fluids, handling deliveries, maintaining stock, and ensuring service areas are kept clean and safe.
Duties

• Process glassware and plastics using industrial washers and autoclaves
• Collect and return glassware to and from laboratories
• Operate and carry out basic maintenance of autoclaves, drying ovens, and industrial washing machines
• Prepare sterile water and solutions as required
• Stock and distribute laboratory consumables daily, keeping accurate records
• Maintain a clean and safe working environment
• Provide assistance to the wider lab services team when needed

What We’re Looking For

• No formal qualifications required, but evidence of literacy and numeracy skills is preferred
• Experience in a practical role involving manual handling and following set procedures
• Comfortable using industrial equipment, or willing to learn
• Reliable, well-organised, with strong attention to detail
• Able to work safely and keep accurate records
• Basic IT skills (Word, Excel)
• A team-focused attitude and good communication skills
• A full, clean driving licence and willingness to work across multiple sites is desirable
