Lab Technician

Working within the electrode manufacturing team, the Laboratory Technician will support the development of next-generation battery materials through laboratory testing, sample preparation and process development activities. This hands-on role will involve working across a range of manufacturing scales, from laboratory experiments through to pilot-scale coating processes, helping to generate the data and insights needed to support ongoing product development.
 
The Laboratory Technician will:

• Prepare electrode slurries, coatings and samples for testing and evaluation.
• Support electrode manufacturing trials across laboratory and pilot-scale processes.
• Conduct routine testing, characterisation and data analysis activities.
• Operate and maintain laboratory equipment safely and effectively.
• Prepare and present experimental results to engineering and technical teams.
• Develop and maintain laboratory documentation, including SOPs, COSHH assessments and Risk Assessments.
• Manage laboratory consumables and support general laboratory organisation.
• Collaborate with materials, cell development and engineering teams on research activities.

 
The Laboratory Technician will have:

• A degree in Materials Science, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or a related scientific or engineering discipline.
• Experience working within a scientific or laboratory environment, gained through industry experience, placements or internships.
• Practical laboratory experience, including safe handling of chemicals and operation of laboratory equipment.
• Strong organisational and communication skills.
• The ability to analyse and interpret experimental data.
• A proactive attitude with a willingness to learn and take initiative.
• The ability to work effectively within a fast-paced R&D environment.
