KS4 Maths and English Tutor

We are looking for a compassionate and experienced tutor to support a Year 11 student on a 1:1 basis for 6 hours per week across 2 days in the Blandford area.

The student is currently working towards GCSEs or Functional Skills qualifications and would benefit from support in English and Maths. Science support would be a bonus, although this is not essential. We would also welcome applications from tutors who specialise in just one of the core subjects, as we may be able to develop a collaborative package of support alongside other subject specialists.

The student has SEMH needs, is on the SEN register, and has been referred for assessments relating to ADHD and Autism. As such, we are seeking a tutor who has experience working with young people with SEND, attachment needs, and who can provide a trauma-informed approach to learning.

M is a polite young person who responds best to consistency, patience and positive relationships. She can sometimes abscond the school environment when feeling overwhelmed, so tutors should be confident communicating appropriately with carers, school staff, and our team when required. There will be no Behaviour management expectations with this provision.

Ideal Tutor:

- Experience teaching GCSE or Functional Skills English , Maths and/or Science.

- Understanding of SEND, SEMH, ADHD, Autism and attachment needs.

- Trauma-informed approach to education.

- Ability to build positive relationships and promote engagement.

- Strong communication and safeguarding awareness.
