This role supports chefs and kitchen staff by ensuring all kitchen equipment, utensils, and workspaces are kept clean and ready for use. A Kitchen Porter is key to the smooth running of the kitchen, allowing our chefs and cooks to work efficiently and safely.Kitchen Porter Key Responsibilities:Cleaning and MaintenanceWash, clean, and store kitchen equipment, utensils, pots, pans, and dishes using dishwashing machines or by hand.Ensure the kitchen, storage, and preparation areas are clean, sanitized, and organized at all times.Dispose of kitchen waste promptly, separating recyclable materials as required.Keep floors dry and clean to prevent slipping hazards, immediately cleaning any spills or debris.Stock and SuppliesAssist in the receiving and organizing of deliveries, ensuring items are stored in appropriate areas.Monitor stock levels of cleaning supplies, dishware, and kitchen tools, and inform supervisors of any shortages.Restock items in the kitchen as needed and ensure all storage areas are kept orderly.Equipment ManagementEnsure all kitchen equipment is cleaned and maintained according to daily, weekly, and monthly schedules.Assist in checking and reporting any equipment malfunctions or maintenance issues to the supervisor.Follow proper procedures for using and maintaining dishwashing machines and other cleaning equipment.Support for Kitchen TeamAssist chefs with basic food preparation tasks, such as peeling and chopping vegetables, as directed.Aid in setting up workstations with required items and clearing them as needed.Support kitchen staff in preparing for service, ensuring all stations have necessary clean tools and utensils.Requirements:Experience:Previous experience in a kitchen or food service environment is a plus but not required.
