We’re recruiting for a Key Account Manager to join an established business near Walsall. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys building relationships with customers, working towards commercial targets and spotting opportunities to grow accounts.
This isn't purely an order-processing role. You'll take ownership of customer enquiries from initial conversation through to quotation and order, while proactively following up opportunities, developing existing accounts and reaching out to prospective customers.
You'll be working with a technical product range, so you don't need to know the products from day one, but you'll need to be naturally inquisitive, comfortable asking questions and keen to understand what you're selling.
What you'll be doing
- Managing customer enquiries, preparing quotations and proactively following them up to convert opportunities into orders
- Building strong relationships with existing customers, identifying opportunities to increase spend through upselling and cross-selling
- Proactively contacting customers and prospects to generate new sales opportunities
- Understanding customer requirements and recommending the most suitable products and solutions
- Working closely with external sales and operational teams on customer accounts, stock availability and sales opportunities
- Maintaining accurate CRM records, managing your sales pipeline and contributing towards sales forecasts and commercial targets
- Previous experience within internal sales, account management, sales support or a commercially focused customer service role
- Confident communicating with customers and building strong relationships
- Commercially aware and comfortable working towards sales targets
- Organised and proactive, with the ability to manage multiple customer requirements
- Strong attention to detail and a customer-focused approach
- Experience with technical products would be advantageous, or you'll be technically minded and keen to learn
