Do you have experience supporting vulnerable people and the confidence to work with individuals facing complex challenges
MensCraft is looking for a compassionate, resilient and proactive Justice Sector Coordinator to support men aged 18+ who are experiencing suicidal thoughts and feelings of hopelessness.
Working as part of a small and committed team, you’ll provide outreach support to men who may be approaching crisis, helping them overcome barriers, reconnect with their communities and find meaningful ways forward.
This is a varied, hands-on role where you’ll build trusted relationships with the people you support while working closely with professionals across the justice, health and community sectors.
What you’ll be doing
You’ll manage your own caseload and provide personalised, outcome-focused support to men with a range of needs.
Day to day, you’ll:
• Provide one-to-one outreach, key-working and crisis support
• Build positive, trusting relationships with men who may sometimes be reluctant to engage with services
• Help individuals address the social, emotional and practical issues affecting their wellbeing
• Develop individual strategies to help men move away from patterns of suicidal ideation
• Connect individuals with meaningful activities and opportunities for greater social connection
• Advocate on behalf of clients and help them access appropriate specialist services
• Make referrals for additional support, including mental health and substance misuse services
• Work collaboratively with Prison and Probation officers, mental health teams, safeguarding professionals and other partner organisations
• Support individuals with practical challenges, including housing and tenancy sustainment where appropriate
• Maintain accurate case records and ensure safeguarding procedures are followed
• Identify, escalate and appropriately manage complex or higher-risk cases
• Contribute to the ongoing development and improvement of MensCraft’s services
You’ll also represent MensCraft at relevant external meetings and help develop effective relationships with organisations supporting men across Norfolk.
What we’re looking for
We’re looking for someone who understands the realities of working with vulnerable people and can combine empathy and compassion with sound judgement, professional boundaries and effective case management.
You’ll ideally have:
• Experience providing outreach or frontline support to vulnerable people
• Experience in areas such as mental health, substance misuse, homelessness, tenancy sustainment or resettlement
• A good understanding of key working and case management
• An understanding of the complex factors that can contribute to suicidal ideation
• The ability to manage a varied and complex caseload
• Confidence working independently and using your own initiative
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• The ability to build effective relationships with service users, colleagues and external professionals
• A collaborative approach to multi-agency working
• A good understanding of safeguarding, confidentiality and professional boundaries
• Emotional resilience and the ability to remain calm and professional in challenging situations
• A genuine commitment to helping people make positive and lasting changes in their lives
Above all, you’ll be honest, reliable, flexible and approachable, with the ability to meet people where they are and help them take positive steps forward.
A full driving licence is essential for this role.
Working hours
The role is 30 hours per week, with flexibility required.
We know that evenings and weekends can be particularly isolating for men experiencing suicidal thoughts, so the position will include some evening and occasional weekend working.
The successful candidate will also participate in an on-call system, providing emergency advice and support when required.
