We are seeking a motivated and reliable Junior ICT Technician to support primary and secondary school environments. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with basic IT experience or early-career exposure within education who is eager to learn and develop into a fully qualified ICT engineer.

The successful candidate will assist with on-site support, installations, troubleshooting, and routine maintenance across multiple school sites, working both independently and alongside experienced engineers. Similar roles involve supporting school ICT networks, maintaining hardware/software, and providing clear communication to non-technical staff.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assisting with installation, configuration, and maintenance of school ICT equipment (desktops, laptops, printers, tablets, interactive whiteboards, and network devices).
  • Providing first-line troubleshooting for hardware, software, and connectivity issues.
  • Supporting routine system checks, updates, and preventative maintenance.
  • Escalating complex technical issues to senior engineers when required.
  • Delivering friendly, professional customer service to school staff and users.
Essential Skills & Attributes

  • Basic knowledge of Windows 10/11 and Microsoft Office.
  • Understanding of fundamental networking or Active Directory concepts (training provided).
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to explain technical issues clearly.
  • Enthusiastic, proactive, and willing to learn.
  • Good organisational skills and ability to prioritise tasks.
  • Full UK driving licence and access to own vehicle.
  • Willingness to undergo a DBS check (required for working in schools).
  • Strong customer-facing skills, logical problem solving, and the ability to explain solutions in plain English are core expectations in comparable ICT field roles.
Desirable (Not Essential)

  • Previous experience in an MSP or school IT environment.
  • Exposure to Windows Server, Active Directory, or Group Policy.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft 365, Google Workspace for Education, or Apple School Manager.
  • Awareness of education-sector networking or managed switches.
What We Offer

  • Structured training and mentoring to develop into a full ICT Field Engineer.
  • Mileage allowance, phone, and uniform (aligned with senior field roles).
  • Supportive team environment with progression opportunities.
  • Holiday allowance aligned to school-term working patterns.
