Salary: £36,000 to £38,000 per annum
Term: Permanent, full-time
Monday to Friday, 7 am to 4 pm.
1 in 3 Saturdays, 8 am to 12 pm.
  
Our client is a wholesale supplier specialist construction materials, looking for a practical, organised Junior Depot Manager to help coordinate its rural depot near Harlow. You will help the yard, drivers and administration team work together, making sure priorities are clear and deliveries run smoothly.
  
Working alongside the owner, you will learn the wider operation, follow up on actions and deal with everyday issues, referring bigger decisions to the owner. This is a hands-on opportunity to develop your management skills and take on more responsibility over time.
  
The role of Junior Depot Manager:
  

• Help organise daily depot activity, coordinating yard staff and drivers and checking that work is progressing.
• Assist with delivery schedules and route planning, communicating changes and following up on outstanding tasks.
• Help run morning huddles and keep the yard, drivers, administration team and owner informed.
• Support the yard team with practical work, including loading and unloading when required, following safe working practices.
• Coordinate maintenance and facilities tasks, liaise with the external health and safety contractor and help review utilities and energy bills.
• Assist the owner with depot improvements and new processes where needed, escalating significant issues and gradually taking on greater responsibility.

  
To be successful in the role of Junior Depot Manager:
  

• Experience in a depot, yard, warehouse, logistics or similar practical environment.
• Experience coordinating people or workloads, with an interest in developing your management skills.
• Good organisation and follow-through, with the ability to keep track of changing priorities.
• Clear, approachable communication and confidence keeping colleagues informed.
• A hands-on attitude, willingness to learn and awareness of safe working practices. Forklift experience is an advantage, but not essential.
• A full UK driving licence and your own transport are essential due to the rural location.

Basic salary: £36,000 to £38,000 per annum
