Junior CNC Programmer

Are you detail-driven, logical, and ready to take your first step into engineering or manufacturing? We're looking for a Junior Laser Programmer to join our growing team in Thatcham.
In this role, you’ll work with advanced CAD/CAM software to create cutting programmes for a CNC laser machine. You’ll be transforming technical drawings and customer specs into clear, efficient instructions that help produce top-quality sheet metal components.

Pay & Shift:
- From £536 per week
- Full-time, Permanent
- Monday to Friday
Key Responsibilities:
- Create accurate laser cutting programmes using CAD/CAM software
- Prepare nested layouts to minimise material waste
- Interpret technical drawings and translate them into clean cut files
- Ensure programmes are optimised for machine settings and materials
- Organise and manage digital files for traceability and efficiency
- Liaise with production staff to ensure smooth job flow
- Support continuous improvement initiatives
What You’ll Bring:
- Excellent attention to detail and pride in producing high-quality work
- Good problem-solving ability and logical mindset
- Confidence with CAD software and reading technical drawings
- Solid general computer literacy (file management, basic office tools)
- Self-motivated, punctual, and organised
- Comfortable working both independently and as part of a team
Desirable (Not Essential):
- Experience with CNC laser machines (e.g., Mazak or similar)
- Familiarity with nesting software or CAM tools
- Understanding of DXF/DWG file formats
- Previous manufacturing or fabrication experience
- Awareness of workshop safety and PPE standards
