Janitor

• Pay Rate: £14.45 per hour

About the Role:

We are recruiting a Janitor for a third-party client based in Dumfries. This is a key role providing a high-quality, customer-facing support service to ensure the smooth operation, maintenance, and security of the building.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide a high-quality support service for the buildings and grounds.
• Patrol buildings and grounds, ensuring users comply with conduct, noise, and food policies.
• Supervise the main entrance and surrounding areas, enforcing no-smoking and parking rules.
• Assist with building access and maintenance during emergencies such as snow or minor floods.
• Support statutory testing and compliance checks, including fire safety and legionella checks.
• Provide janitorial assistance for College events, including evening and external functions.
• Relocate equipment and furniture for events and room setups.
• Assist in maintaining the security of the premises and conduct minor maintenance tasks.

Key Skills & Requirements:

• Experience in a janitorial or maintenance role.
• A valid driving licence.
• PVG certification for working with adults and children (or willingness to obtain).
• Ability to prioritise tasks and meet tight deadlines.
• Understanding of key-holding operations.
• Knowledge of fire and security alarm systems.
• Ability to follow risk assessments and method statements before engaging in tasks.
