IT Systems Administrator
to manage and optimise their IT infrastructure.
CANDIDATES WHO CURRENTLY RESIDE IN CAPE TOWN WILL BE CONSIDERED FOR THIS POSITION .Role Purpose
The IT Administrator will be responsible for managing, securing, and maintaining the organisation’s IT infrastructure and systems. The role ensures the smooth operation of servers, networks, and cloud environments while safeguarding data through advanced security measures. This position requires hands-on expertise in system administration, network management, cybersecurity tools, and user support, with a focus on reliability, performance, and compliance.Responsibilities
Manage and secure IT infrastructure and systems to ensure reliable operation of servers, networks, and cloud environments.Implement and manage security tools and platforms to protect data and systems.Configure and maintain firewalls (Cisco ASA, Palo Alto) and network security.Administer operating systems: Windows Server, Linux, macOS.Manage networking components: TCP/IP, DNS, VPNs, routing/switching, VLANs.Conduct threat analysis and vulnerability management using tools such as Nessus, OpenVAS, Qualys.Oversee cloud security across platforms (Azure, AWS) and Office 365 suite (Intune, SharePoint).Respond to incidents and perform forensics with tools like Wireshark, Volatility, Autopsy.Support CCTV setup and management; manage DNS and hosting requirements.Manage server infrastructure and virtualization (VMware).Provide end-user support and ensure compliance with security and IT policies.Qualifications and Experience
Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or a related field.Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a similar IT administration role.Strong knowledge of: security tools and platforms; firewalls (Cisco ASA, Palo Alto); operating systems (Windows Server, Linux, macOS); networking (TCP/IP, DNS, VPNs, Routing/Switching, VLANs); cloud platforms (Azure, AWS) and Office 365 suite (Intune, SharePoint); virtualization (VMware); threat analysis and vulnerability management tools (Nessus, OpenVAS, Qualys); incident response and forensic tools (Wireshark, Volatility, Autopsy); CCTV setup and management.Professional certifications advantageous (CCSP, AWS Security Specialty, Azure Security Engineer).Strong problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills; ability to work independently and under pressure; high attention to detail and commitment to data security; adaptability to rapid technology ..... full job details .....
