Job Title: IT Services and Support Engineer (L1)
Location: Hammersmith, London - 100% Office-Based
Salary/Rate: Based on experience
Job Type: Contract, Full-Time (Monday to Friday, 9am - 6pm)
Contract Length: 3 Months (with strong potential for extension)
About the Enterprise
Our client is a global leader in Life Sciences and enterprise technology solutions. They are seeking a driven, self-motivated IT Support Engineer to maintain the smooth operations of their main Hammersmith delivery centre and provide top-tier support to corporate end-users.
Position Summary Operating with a high degree of autonomy, you will manage desktop support, hardware lifecycle processes, and inventory control. This position requires initiative, sharp analytical problem-solving, and the ability to work under minimal supervision to maintain strict corporate standards.
Main Duties & Responsibilities:
- Technical Support: Deliver L1 technical support for corporate laptops, desktops, software, and peripheral equipment.
- System Integration: Ensure endpoint devices interconnect seamlessly with diverse systems including file, print, application, and network servers.
- Asset & Inventory Control: Maintain asset management systems to track all IT hardware/software. Conduct stock-takes, maintain the IT room, and manage inbound/outbound dispatches.
- Vendor Management: Liaise with third-party vendors for hardware quotes and technical escalations.
- User Enablement: Train end-users on hardware/software best practices and assist in writing internal IT documentation.
- Security & Upgrades: Recommend system upgrades, administer internal hardware recycling, and maintain password and data integrity security.
Required Competencies & Experience:
- Experience: Minimum 2+ years of full-time, work-related desktop support experience.
- Education: Educated to degree level. ITIL or relevant IT certifications are highly beneficial.
- Operating Systems: Demonstrated proficiency in installing, configuring, and supporting Windows 10/11 and macOS.
- Mobile & Tools: Experience troubleshooting Apple/Samsung mobile devices and administering tools like Active Directory, MDM, and RDP.
- Networking: Clear understanding of basic networking concepts (TCP/IP, connectivity, and printing).
- Physical & Travel Requirements: Ability to handle and lift equipment packages up to 25kg. Willingness to occasionally travel to 6 other UK-based corporate sites (car ownership is beneficial).
