IT Manager job in Baildon – leading IT strategy, infrastructure, cyber security and service delivery for an established construction business, supporting both office and site-based teams.
The Role
An established contractor is looking for an experienced IT Manager to join its team, based from its Baildon office.
You will take ownership of the business's IT function, overseeing infrastructure, systems, cyber security, data protection and business continuity while ensuring employees have the technology and support required to operate effectively.
The role will combine strategic IT management with a hands-on approach, including managing IT equipment, software licences, suppliers and assets, providing user support and identifying opportunities to improve technology and systems across the business.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead IT strategy, infrastructure and service delivery across the business
- Manage cyber security, data protection and business continuity
- Oversee IT systems, software licences, hardware and technology platforms
- Manage relationships with external IT providers and suppliers
- Monitor IT expenditure and support budget management
- Set up and configure laptops, phones and other IT equipment for office and site-based employees
- Maintain accurate IT asset registers and equipment ownership records
- Provide first-line IT support and troubleshoot day-to-day user issues
- Escalate technical issues to external providers where required
- Manage user access, system permissions and technology requirements
- Provide training and support to employees on IT systems and best practice
- Identify opportunities to improve systems, processes and technology
- Ensure IT policies and security procedures remain up to date and compliant
Requirements
- Previous experience in an IT Manager or similar IT management role
- Strong knowledge of IT infrastructure, systems and user support
- Good understanding of cyber security and data protection
- Experience managing external IT suppliers and technology providers
- Experience managing hardware, software licences and IT assets
- Strong troubleshooting and technical support skills
- Experience supporting both office and remote/site-based users advantageous
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
- Ability to work strategically while remaining hands-on with day-to-day IT
- Construction or engineering sector experience advantageous but not essential
