About the Role
We are looking for an IT Manager to keep Makers running smoothly, ensuring our people and students have the technology and support they need to thrive. This is a hands-on role where you will balance day-to-day IT support with forward-looking projects to strengthen our systems, security and resilience.
It is also an exciting growth opportunity. You will gain exposure to information security and compliance frameworks (ISO 27001, Cyber Essentials Plus), support audit preparation, and contribute to our ISMS. You will work closely with the Ops and IT Coordinator, taking the lead on more complex technical issues and projects, and ensuring we continue to operate as a secure, efficient and future-ready organisation.
This role is hybrid. We work flexibly, but you will need to spend at least 2 days a week in our Shoreditch office.
What you will be responsible forEnd-User Support and Equipment Management
Provide technical support to staff and students across Slack, email and phone, resolving hardware, software and system issues efficiently
Manage the full lifecycle of IT equipment, from distribution and setup to maintenance and inventory
Prioritise and resolve IT support tickets quickly and effectively
Systems Administration and Maintenance
Monitor and maintain IT infrastructure including servers, networks and cloud-based systems to ensure performance, security and uptime
Manage subscriptions and contracts with IT and tech suppliers, ensuring renewals are considered in good time
Carry out proactive maintenance such as updates, patches and performance tuning
Project Implementation and Knowledge Management
Lead and deliver IT projects including system upgrades, software deployments and infrastructure improvements
Create and maintain documentation of IT processes, procedures and configurations to support knowledge sharing
Provide training and support to staff and students so they can make the best use of technology
Collaborate with the IT Coordinator and Operations team on complex challenges and IT strategy
ISMS and Certification Management (ISO 27001 and Cyber Essentials Plus)
Support the maintenance and improvement of our ISMS
Assist with certification audits, including managing actions from internal and external assessments
Carry out risk assessments, implement treatment plans and maintain the Statement of Applicability
Oversee technical security controls such as firewalls, patch management and vulnerability scanning
Policy, Procedure and Incident Response
Contribute to the development and review of information security policies and procedures
Manage incident response, including investigation and follow-up analysis
Deliver security awareness training and help embed a culture of security
Keep accurate documentation of processes and configurations
Compliance, Monitoring and Reporting
Monitor compliance with laws, regulations and standards such as GDPR
Conduct security monitoring, vulnerability assessments and penetration testing
Report on security and compliance status to management and stakeholders
Act as the main point of contact for security and compliance queries
