Investigating Officer – Surrey Police
£15.16 per hour
Locations: Reigate, Guildford & Staines
Surrey Police is seeking temporary PIP1 Investigators to support investigation teams across the force.
As an Investigating Officer, you will manage your own caseload, working alongside police officers and staff to investigate a range of offences. Responsibilities will include interviewing suspects, taking witness statements, gathering and reviewing evidence, preparing case files for court and supporting cases through the trial process.
You will work closely with victims, witnesses, solicitors, the Crown Prosecution Service and partner agencies, ensuring victims are kept informed throughout investigations. You will also apply established policing frameworks, including the National Decision Model (NDM), THRIVE and Investigative Decision Making Model (IDMM), to make sound and accountable investigative decisions.
This is a challenging but rewarding role, requiring resilience, sound judgement and the ability to work effectively under pressure.
Essential Requirements:
Previous PIP1 investigative experience within a policing environment.
Experience taking statements, gathering evidence and completing investigative tasks.
Full manual driving licence.
Availability to complete the mandatory 8-week Investigating Officer course in full, with no annual leave permitted during the course.
Flexibility to work day and evening shifts, including weekends and bank holidays.
Successful applicants will be required to attend the full training course before commencing the role.
