Intervention Teacher
Position: Intervention Tutor – English & Maths
Location: Portsmouth, Hampshire
Start Date: September 2026
Contract Type: Long-term contract
Salary: £130 - £180 per day (depending on experience)
Hours: 5 hours per day, Monday to Friday
We are seeking an Intervention Tutor to join a secondary school in Portsmouth from September. This is an excellent opportunity for someone passionate about helping young people overcome barriers to learning and achieve their academic potential.
The role will involve working within the school''s Inclusion Department, providing targeted support in English and Maths to students who require additional intervention. You will deliver focused learning sessions to small groups, helping students to build confidence, close knowledge gaps, and make progress towards their individual academic targets.
Working closely with teaching staff and the inclusion team, you will play a key role in supporting students both academically and emotionally, ensuring they remain engaged and successful in their learning.
Key Responsibilities- Deliver targeted English and Maths intervention sessions to small groups of students.
- Support students who require additional academic assistance to reach expected progress levels.
- Adapt learning activities to meet the individual needs of learners.
- Build positive relationships that encourage confidence, engagement, and achievement.
- Monitor and report on student progress and attainment.
- Work closely with teachers, pastoral staff, and the Inclusion Team to identify and address learning barriers.
- Support students in developing effective study skills, resilience, and independence.
- Create a positive and supportive learning environment that promotes success.
