This is a key role in the Assurance and Public Protection directorate, where you''ll lead audit assignments end-to-end, provide expert advice to services across the organisation, and help drive continuous improvement in how we deliver assurance.What you''ll be doingPlanning and delivering a varied programme of internal audits from scoping through to final report, working largely unsupervised.Applying a risk-based approach in line with Global Internal Audit Standards and the organisation''s Audit Manual.Identifying and reporting system weaknesses, financial issues, and areas for inclusion in the Annual Audit Plan.Providing technical and professional audit advice to colleagues and senior stakeholders across the council.Supporting the development of junior auditors within the team.Representing the directorate at internal working groups and contributing to training for staff, members, and schools.Maintaining strong links with the Corporate Anti-Fraud Team and contributing to relevant investigations and projects.What we''re looking forA relevant professional qualification - CIPFA, AAT, IIA, or another CCAB-recognised equivalent - alongside a degree or equivalent.At least 5 years'' internal audit experience within a public sector ..... full job details .....
