Job Title: Interim Stock Accountant
Location: On-site, Hereford
Contract: 3-Month Interim
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Stock Accountant to join our finance team on an interim basis. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing stock accounting processes, ensuring accurate costing, and maintaining effective control over stock records. This role requires strong experience with Sage 50 and the ability to work confidently with Bills of Materials (BOMs) and costing data.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee stock accounting processes, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
Manage and reconcile stock movements, adjustments, and valuations.
Maintain and analyse Bills of Materials (BOMs) to ensure accurate product costing.
Support the month-end process, including stock reconciliations and reporting.
Monitor variances between standard and actual costs, investigating discrepancies.
Ensure Sage 50 records are up to date with accurate stock and costing data.
Provide detailed reporting and insights to support operational and financial decision-making.
Collaborate with production, procurement, and finance teams to streamline stock control processes.
Assist with stock audits and cycle counts, ensuring controls are in place.
Key Requirements
Part-qualified / qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA) or QBE with relevant experience.
Strong background in stock accounting, costing, and BOM management.
Proven experience using Sage 50 in a stock/costing environment.
Advanced Excel skills with the ability to analyse and interpret data effectively.
Excellent attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and a proactive approach.
Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively across departments.
