Interim Private Sector Housing Officer

We''re working with a Hampshire-based Local Authority that is investing heavily in improving housing standards across its private rented sector and is looking for an experienced Private Sector Housing Officer to help tackle a growing workload of complex enforcement cases.

This isn''t a role where you''ll simply be completing routine inspections. The team is dealing with a varied caseload including Category 1 hazards, damp and mould complaints, disrepair investigations, HMOs and vulnerable residents who require a proactive approach.

You''ll be joining a well-established team with strong management support, and the flexibility to manage your diary effectively.

• Managing your own caseload of private sector housing enforcement cases
• Undertaking HHSRS inspections across the district
• Investigating complaints relating to disrepair, excess cold, damp and mould and overcrowding
• Working directly with landlords and letting agents to secure improvements
• Preparing and serving statutory notices where informal resolution isn''t appropriate
• Supporting wider projects focused on improving standards in the private rented sector

• Hybrid working with site visits planned around your schedule
• Sensible caseload allocation
• Supportive management team who understand contract staff
• Strong likelihood of extension beyond the initial term
• Interesting mix of urban and rural housing issues

• Previous Local Authority Private Sector Housing experience
• Confident carrying out HHSRS inspections
• Experience taking enforcement action under the Housing Act 2004
• Ability to hit the ground running with minimal supervision
