Interim Payroll Officer

Location: London (1-2 days per week onsite required)
Start Date: Within the next 2 weeks
Duration: 3 - 6 months initially
Rate: Up to -250 per day, depending on experience
Potential: Opportunity to convert to a permanent appointment

The Role
Working as part of a small payroll function, you will be responsible for supporting the accurate and timely processing of payroll across a complex and diverse workforce.

Payroll activities include:

• Processing monthly payroll from start to finish
• Variable hours and relief workers
• Overtime and enhancements
• Sleep-in payments
• Sickness and absence-related payments
• Salary sacrifice schemes and employee benefits
• Multiple terms and conditions of employment
• Pension administration and auto-enrolment
• HMRC submissions and compliance
• Payroll reconciliations and checking
• Responding to payroll queries from employees and managers
• Maintaining accurate payroll records and supporting payroll reporting

About You
We''re keen to hear from payroll professionals who can demonstrate:

• Solid end-to-end payroll processing experience
• Experience working with complex payrolls and multiple employee groups
• Strong working knowledge of payroll legislation, HMRC requirements and pensions administration
• Experience within the charity, not-for-profit, social care, healthcare or wider public sector environments would be advantageous
• Experience processing variable pay, overtime, enhancements and absence-related payments
• Strong attention to detail and a commitment to payroll accuracy
• Good Excel and payroll systems experience
• Exposure to payroll systems implementation, migration, process improvement or wider change programmes would be beneficial
• Ability to work effectively in a busy environment and meet strict payroll deadlines
• A proactive and collaborative approach, with the confidence to identify and resolve payroll issues
