Salary: -40,000 - -50,000 (pro rata)
Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30am - 4:30pm
Start Date: 15th July
Contract: Interim (8 weeks initially, with potential for extension)
Tradewind Recruitment, a leading education supply specialist, is currently recruiting on behalf of a college in Hull for an experienced Interim Payroll Manager.
This is an excellent opportunity for a payroll professional to provide short-term cover within a busy college environment. The role is due to start on 15th July and will initially run for 8 weeks, with the possibility of being extended depending on business needs. The college is centrally located in Hull and easily accessible via public transport.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the end-to-end payroll process, ensuring accuracy and timely payments.
- Oversee payroll administration, including statutory deductions and pension contributions.
- Ensure compliance with HMRC legislation and payroll best practice.
- Resolve payroll queries from employees promptly and professionally.
- Maintain accurate payroll records and produce relevant reports.
- Work closely with HR and Finance teams to ensure payroll information is up to date.
Requirements
To be considered for this role, you must:
- Have previous experience managing payroll, ideally within an education or public sector setting.
- Have strong knowledge of UK payroll legislation and processes.
- Be highly organised with excellent attention to detail.
- Have the ability to work independently and manage deadlines effectively.
- Provide proof of your right to work in the UK.
- Hold an Enhanced DBS certificate on the Update Service or be willing to obtain one prior to starting.

- Competitive salary of -40,000 - -50,000 (pro rata).
