Interim Building Control Lead
£80 per hour (Umbrella) | Rolling Contract
Northamptonshire | 3 days per week office attendance required
An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Building Control professional to step into a Lead role within a busy and forward-thinking local authority.
This is a key interim position where you will take ownership of service delivery, support the wider team, and ensure compliance across a varied and technically challenging portfolio of projects.
The Role
You will be responsible for leading and supporting a team of Building Control Surveyors, ensuring that projects are delivered efficiently and in line with current legislation and regulatory standards. This will include oversight across plan checking and site inspections, as well as providing technical guidance to the wider team.
You will play a pivotal role in maintaining service performance, managing workloads, and acting as a senior point of contact for both internal stakeholders and external clients.
Key Responsibilities
·Lead and support a team of Building Control professionals
·Oversee a varied caseload across plan checking and site inspections
·Provide technical guidance on Building Regulations and compliance
·Ensure service delivery meets statutory obligations and performance targets
·Act as a key liaison for clients, contractors, and internal departments
·Support continuous improvement within the service
About You
·Registered Building Inspector (Class 2 or Class 3) or equivalent experience
·Proven experience operating at Senior or Principal level within Building Control
·Strong technical knowledge across a broad range of project types
·Experience managing or mentoring teams is highly desirable
·Confident communicator with the ability to engage stakeholders at all levels
