Interim Financial Controller - Hybrid | Leicester & Multi-Site (significant travel between 3 sites expected)
-500600 per day + Expenses (Inside IR35) | c.3+ Months
Gleeson are absolutely delighted to be working exclusively with a truly inspiring client of ours to find a hands-on, commercially minded Interim Financial Controller to support a high-growth, sustainability-led division of a major UK group. The role will focus on post-acquisition integration of multiple SME businesses and will play a pivotal part in shaping the finance framework for one of the company''s key strategic growth areas.
While this is a dedicated interim assignment, there is scope for it to be considered on a permanent basis for the right person.
Interim Financial Controller Position Overview:
Act as a trusted business partner to senior leadership, providing insight, challenge, and strategic support to drive performance of newly acquired entities.
Lead post-acquisition finance integration for newly and upcoming acquired SME sites across the UK.
Build clear, transparent P&Ls, balance sheet reviews, and financial models to support decision-making.
Ensure robust controls, compliance with accounting policies, and transparent reporting during the integration period.
Oversee budgeting, forecasting, and performance analysis, identifying risks, opportunities, and areas for operational efficiency.
Present findings and recommendations to the Group board and senior stakeholders.
Manage and develop two Senior Finance Analysts, fostering a high-performance culture.
The Ideal Profile:
- Fully Qualfied Accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA)
Proven FC/FD experience with exposure to SME environments and post-acquisition integration into Group is essential.
Strong commercial acumen with proven ability in challenging and influencing senior stakeholders both internally and externally is essential.
Comfortable working in a fast-paced, multi-site environment.
Business Partnering experience with operational teams is essential.

Working Pattern & Travel
Hybrid role with significant travel requirements - please take note of this before applying as this is a crucial aspect of the role and cannot be flexed:
A typical week consists of 4 days per week across sites: 3 - 4 days across sites including Staffordshire and London, 1 day home/Leicester-based (Head Office). All travel and accommodation expenses will covered.
